ICOOLAW International Congress of Legal Professionals
About us: the leading international congress for legal professionals in the Balkans.
About us at ICOOLAW means presenting a regional platform that brings together lawyers, data protection experts, Data Protection Officers, representatives of institutions, companies, attorneys, judges, prosecutors, AI and IT professionals, as well as experts who follow the intersection of law, technology, privacy and business.
About us and the development of ICOOLAW.
ICOOLAW began in 2021 on Kopaonik, during the pandemic. Since then, it has developed into a recognised International Congress of Legal Professionals, bringing together lawyers, data protection experts, institutions and companies from across the region.
About us: an international congress connecting law, data protection, technology and practice.
Our goal is to bring together legal professionals, data protection experts, representatives of institutions and companies, and professionals who want to understand how modern regulation is applied in practice.
ICOOLAW was created with the idea of gathering professionals who expect more than a traditional expert event. From its first edition, the Congress was designed as a place where legal professionals from the judiciary, public sector, legal practice, business, academia, data protection, institutions and companies could meet and exchange knowledge.
Over the years, the Congress has followed the most important challenges of modern law and business — from the pandemic and digitalisation, through information technologies and GDPR, to the AI Act and the practical use of artificial intelligence in legal work.
Today, ICOOLAW is an International Congress of Legal Professionals that brings together lawyers, data protection experts, representatives of institutions and companies, and professionals who want to understand how law, technology and regulation are changing in practice.
You can explore the official ICOOLAW website, visit the ICOOLAW contact page or learn more about relevant European regulatory sources such as the European Data Protection Board and the EU AI Act.
ICOOLAW through the years
From the first edition on Kopaonik to the Congress at Lake Bled, ICOOLAW has followed topics that have shaped legal practice in the region: the pandemic, IT, GDPR, the AI Act and the practical use of artificial intelligence.
ICOOLAW I · Kopaonik
The first edition of the Congress was held on Kopaonik during the pandemic. The main theme was “Law and COVID”, with a focus on the legal challenges that the pandemic created in practice.
ICOOLAW II · Bansko
The second edition of the Congress was held in Bansko, under the theme “Law and IT”. The focus was on the relationship between law, technology, digital processes and new challenges for legal professionals.
ICOOLAW III · Bled
The third edition of the Congress was held at Lake Bled, with a focus on GDPR in European countries. The Congress brought together lawyers and experts working in data protection, business compliance and European regulation.
ICOOLAW IV · Bled
The fourth International Congress of Legal Professionals was held at Lake Bled, with a focus on the AI Act and its connection with GDPR. Particular attention was given to regulatory obligations, risks and practical challenges that artificial intelligence brings to institutions, companies and legal professionals.
ICOOLAW V · Bled
The 2026 Congress at Lake Bled focuses on the practical application of new rules and technologies in the work of institutions and companies.
- How business compliance with the AI Act works in practice.
- How artificial intelligence is already being used in legal work.
